The Federation has been designated as the State Nodal Agency for Bamboo Development, processing and value-addition in the year 2003 considering the rich legacy of traditional skill and knowledge of bamboo craft it possesses and the natural abundance of Bamboo in areas such as Balaghat, Betul, Jabalpur etc. In order to productively utilize this vast resources efforts have been initiated to collaborate with resources persons within and outside State towards product designing, product development, capacity building of the "Basod" communities and other interested individuals in the rural areas. Some exquisitely designed bamboo products have been developed and are sold through various fairs, organized within and outside the State.
